Dear all,

Ben Kovitz has generously and commendably taken it upon himself to set up
lists with a Netcom account at Netcom. So ASP-Disc and ASP-Info will be
located there beginning sometime next week. I am not sure whether the
lists will be unmoderated (but I will not be doing the moderating, at any
rate). If you have any comments or suggestions, or thanks, I encourage you
to send them to Ben at benk@insightd.com.

I am asking for volunteers to take over the Keeper of the Directory
position -- it's actually kind of fun. It involves (1) posting the
directory of ASP members every so often, (2) posting the directory form
(which I usually do at the same time), and (3) updating it as people tell
you they want to be added or deleted.

I will, as I said, remain the editor of the journal for at least one issue.
And guess what! The *first commentary* arrived today, on Mike's paper!
Yay! (And guess who wrote it? Me.)

Larry

To remove yourself from the ASP-Disc list, send a message containing
only the word 'unsubscribe' to:

    ASP-Disc-request@netcom.com

To add yourself to the list, send a message to the same address, containing
only the word 'subscribe'.

In general, commands to the list server should go to that address, and
messages intended to be forwarded to all members of the list should
go to:

    ASP-Disc@netcom.com

If you have any problems or question, send them to:

    ASP-Disc-owner@netcom.com

The addresses for the ASP-Info list are the same, except that "ASP-Info"
goes in place of "ASP-Disc" in each address.

Happy Hour at Cafe des Philosophes

             Nightly: 6:00PST,7:00MST,8:00CST,9:00EST

Cafe des Philosophes is located at

                       Mudus Philosophicus
                    (sc18.saic.com port 8000)

I've been watching the MUD connect logs and have found
that 20 new people have visited Mudus Philosophicus.
However, most of the time they are comming on when
no one else was.

Tonight, we had about 5 people on and had a good time,
so we decided to start a happy hour.
The happy hour is a daily event at the time mentioned above
and is not a formal, official meeting of the ASP on Mudus Philosophicus.

To get to Mudus Philosophicus (where Cafe des Philosophes resides):

>From UNIX, DOS, OS/2 command prompt:

telnet sc18.saic.com 8000

or for a Windows or OS/2 telnet client specify host: sc18.saic.com,
port: 8000.

Hope to see more of you at the Happy Hour!

Of course, Mudus Philosophicus is up 24 hours so you can
arrange to meet people there anytime.

Charles
